Dancekiosk-Hamburg 2005
A summer academy and meeting point for dance in Hamburg
Patron Fatih Akin
Dancekiosk-Hamburg networked dancers, performers, choreographers and audience.
Impulse was the wish to create in Hamburg a platform for the independent dance community in the field of contemporary dance.
The international well known Portuguese dancer, performer and choreographer Angela Guerreiro conceived DanceKiosk as a pilot project. The main goal is the interchange of knowledge and information between artists with different origin and background. Visions, passions and pioneering spirit are the drive of a team of 24 choreographers, performers, musicians, composers, film makers, designer, technicians, producers and organisers.
Important artists and guest teachers from different artistic fields and nationalities developed together with the participants new forms and variations of dance expression. The core of DanceKiosk is the connection between practice, method and aesthetic within the choreographic work. The participants gain insight in contemporary dance, expressionist dance, composition, the praxis of stage technique, light and sound design and dramaturgy.
Among the artists who participated 2005 in the first edition of DanceKiosk Hamburg: the Canadian Benoît Lachambre, the American Johnny Lloyd and the German Sven Seger. A successful mix of acrobatic, concept dance, avant-garde and pop culture.
